Andre, Janell, Korbin, Remington, and Vivian

Hello! We are the Graves family from sunny San Diego. We are an active family of 5. Andre and Janell both work as an analysts for the State of California. We are proud parents of our 3 young children; Korbin, hearing, Remington, hearing and Vivian, our youngest, deaf.

With two hearing sons when Vivian was born and did not pass the newborn hearing screening at the hospital we were very nervous and unsure of what to expect. We left the hospital with hopes that perhaps she failed the screening due to fluid in her ears.

Erin, Jeff, Amelia, and Casey

We are the Nokes Family. We feel incredibly fortunate for our two wonderful children, Amelia and Casey. Jeff works in high-tech and Erin works as an audiologist.

Amelia spent a significant part of her first year of life at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital at Stanford due to medical complications associated with CHARGE Syndrome. Erin met Amelia during this time and fit her first hearing aids! Soon after that we became a family.

Vijay, Nandini, Ved, & baby sister

We are Vijay family. We moved to Los Angeles from India 5 years back for work. My husband Vijay is software engineer and me (Nandini) homemaker. After almost 6 years of our marriage our son Ved was born in Los Angeles. We were super excited. On 2nd day they did Newborn hearing test and he failed. Me and my husband didn’t worry much. And moreover in India there is no test like that and we never knew that.
