At California Hands & Voices, we’re a parent-driven nonprofit on a mission to support families raising children who are Deaf, Hard of Hearing, DeafBlind, or DeafPlus. We’re currently looking for caring, motivated, and diverse individuals who want to share their time and talents by volunteering with us—whether that’s on our Board of Directors, a committee, helping locally, or even occasionally if you’re unable to make a regular commitment at this time.

And don’t worry—no formal experience required, just heart! There are so many meaningful ways to get involved—and we’d love to learn more about you!

📍 Open Board Positions – We Need You!

We’re especially looking for Regional Representatives in the following areas:

  • Region 1: Humboldt, Del Norte, Lake, Mendocino, Butte, Glenn, Shasta, Siskiyou, Tehama, Trinity, Lassen, Modoc, Plumas, Sierra
  • Region 5: Ventura, Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo
  • Region 6: Madera, Mariposa, Merced, Fresno, Kings, Inyo, Mono, Tulare, Kern
  • Region 7: Orange County, Los Angeles

📌 What Board Service Looks Like

We keep it manageable and collaborative. Here’s what to expect:

  • Share our mission and values
  • Attend virtual board meetings (quarterly)
  • Join a committee and take part in friendly, meaningful discussions
  • Help out with events when you can
  • Maintain an active CA H&V membership annually

Our chapter is currently seeking individuals with different backgrounds and lived experiences, including DHH Plus/Deaf Disabled, rural, race, ethnicity, ancestry, national origin, or immigration status.  In addition, diversity encompasses dimensions of religion, gender, marital or family status, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, disability, and other characteristics that comprise.  H&V HQ has built a strong network of diverse families, professionals, modality-based groups, service providers, family-based organizations and individuals who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing and we hope you will consider applying to a board position if that is of interest to you. 

Mission:  California Hands & Voices is dedicated to supporting families with children who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing in a respectful and non-judgmental manner regarding language opportunities, communication tools or educational approaches. We’re a parent-driven, non-profit organization providing families with the resources, networks, and information to improve communication access and educational outcomes for their children. Our outreach activities, parent/professional collaboration, and advocacy efforts are focused on enabling children who are Deaf or Hard-of-Hearing to reach their highest potential.
